Reba’s mother, Jacqueline, always dreamed of becoming a country singer, but in the end she became a teacher. Reba’s father and grandfather were rodeo steer ropers, with her father going on to become a world champion in steer roping.
A Family That Sings Together
Her father’s rodeo competitions meant that the family were often traveling around, and they often sang together during their time on the road. Reba’s mother introduced her and her siblings to country music, and soon after, the siblings became known as “The Singing McEntires.” Reba would also sing at rodeo competitions, plays, and at the town’s high school graduation ceremony.
