Wearing jewelry is one of the best ways to be able to express yourself. While there are plenty of options out there for beautiful pieces, there’s nothing better than customizing your own jewelry. However, getting that done professionally can get quite expensive. The perfect solution is to make your very own custom designs! Not only will it save your a fortune, it will also add an irreplaceable touch of sentimentality that you wouldn’t otherwise have. Besides, making your own jewelry is very fun and relaxing. Here is an idea for a beautiful stone and tassel necklace.
What You Need
There are endless options for materials to choose from when you are creating your own necklace, so feel free to choose whatever speaks to you. You can buy new supplies or recycle old jewelry into up-cycled pieces. If you need some inspiration, here is a supply list with everything you’re going to need. Of course, feel free to substitute anything if you want to.
-a plain necklace chain
-E6000 craft adhesive
-small wood skewer
Choose Your Design
This is where your creativity gets to shine. You can sketch some inspiration and try to find materials that will match your design, or you can gather supplies and try to draw an idea from what you’ve got. Just make sure you have a clear vision before you start.
Attach The Stone
Select the gemstone, stone, or crystal you wish to use. Using a small wood skewer, apply some craft adhesive carefully to the top of the stone. Loop the connector ring through the top of the bead cap and then close the loop directly onto the necklace chain. Allow the glue to dry fully before add the charm to the chain. You can get a chain that comes with clasps already intact, but for more advanced jewelry makers, you can choose to attach them on your own.
Create The Tassel
Making a tassel is super simple and adds an elegant touch. Cut several stands of embroidery thread, making sure they’re the same length. Cut them into pieces a bit longer than you want, so you have room for error. You will always be able to adjust to shorter later. Next, fold the string in half, the folded end will become the top of the tassel. Loop the connecting ring through the top end of the tassel and then tie it around the ring to create the tassel. To keep it in place, double knot the string. Trim off the excess string until you are pleased with the size.
Put It All Together
Decide where the middle of the necklace is and where you want your charms to sit in relation to the center. Use your pliers, add your charms to the chain by attaching with the connecting rings. Make sure the rings are completely closed so that they will not fall off.
