One of the most gratifying feelings in the world is seeing a friend’s face light up when you’ve given them the perfect gift. While purchasing the perfect gift for someone is an art in itself, another way to truly show someone you care about them is by making the gift yourself. True, a store-bought gift is always nice, but taking the time to make something by hand really conveys how meaningful this person is to you.

Want to make the perfect gift for someone but not sure about what to make? We’ve compiled some ideas for you that are not only super simple to do but are also extremely affordable! Let’s get started.

Color Blocked Wood Vases

What You’ll Need

  • Adhesive wood sheets
  •  Glass cylinder vases
  • Craft paint
  • Painter’s Tape

Step 1: Cut wood sheet so that it will fit around your vase – both the circumference and height. Do this by wrapping the vase with the sheet (without removing the paper backing yet) and making where it overlaps by about half an inch. Do the same with the height of the vase.

Step 2: First paint the bottom part of the sheet. Then put the wood sheet flat on the table with some scrap paper under it. With the painter’s tape, tape the bottom third of the vase. Now you can paint the bottom of the vase with craft paint. Make sure to paint away from the tape’s edge so it won’t bleed through. Wait until the paint has dried completely and take off the tape.

Step 3: Repeat this process with the second color. After this, tape both the bottom and top lines. Paint it with another color and wait for the paint to completely dry.

4. Take off the paper back and adhere the wood sheet onto your vase. Align the top and bottom edges neatly with your fingers. Try doing this by removing the paper backing little by little. Try to get rid of any air bubbles with smoothing them out with your hand when you are applying the wood to the vase.
That’s it! Put some fresh flowers in the vase and voila! It’s a beautiful gift.

What You’ll Need

  • cardboard
  • scissors
  • tape
  • agate prints
  • spray glue (optional)
  • gold spray paint
  • mod podge

Step 1: Trace the shape of the agate print on the cardboard with a pencil
Cut the cardboard over the exact shape that you have. You’ll need two pieces of cardboard for each print.

Step 2: Tape the two pieces of cardboard together until they are completely covered up by the tape.

Step 3: After covering up the cardboard with tape, spray paint them with the gold paint.

Step 4: Once the gold paint has fully dried, adhere the prints to the cardboard by spraying some glue to the back of the prints.

Step 5: Apply a layer of mod podge (make sure it’s thin!) to the layer of the prints in order to make the coasters liquid-proof. Allow your coasters to dry for several hours.
